Ingredients for filling:
Apple- 3-peeled,cored and diced( best if apples are a little tart and firm ),
Pear- 2-peeled,cored and diced,
Cornflour-1/2 tbsp,
Brown sugar-3 tbsp( if you are using sweet apples then use 1 tbsp),
Lemon juice-1 tsp.
Ingredients for topping:( streusel )
All purpose flour or maida-65 gms or 1/2 cup ( sifted ),
Brown sugar-75 to 90 gms- 1/2 cup or a little less, depends on the tartness or sweetness of the apples.
Salted butter- 85 gms or 6 tbsp- cold and cut into small pieces.
Cinnamon pwd-1/2 tsp,
Rolled oats-1/3 cup if available-( would have loved to use oats but it is not available here).
Note: you can make this in a pie dish too ( 9 inch size ).
Method:
Grease the pan with butter- bottom and sides.
Pre heat oven to 190 C or 375 F.
Peel, core and chop the apples and pear in to 1 inch cubes.
Add lemon juice.
Mix with a wooden spoon.
Mix cornflour and brown sugar in a bowl, and then spread it on the apples and pear.
Stir with a spoon and leave it aside.
For topping;
You can mix all the ingredients in a food processor till the mixture is of crumb texture.
Or mix using your hands and to make it easier since the butter is cold, use a potato smasher.
The texture should be crumb like.
Spread the apples and pear mixture on the bottom of the pan.
Sprinkle the streusel topping evenly over the fruits.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until the topping is crisp and evenly brown.
Remove from oven and let it cool on wire rack for 1/2 hour.
You can serve the crisp while still warm with vanilla icecream.
This a very easy recipe and no eggs and beating of the blender.
You can make this recipe with berries too!
Cover and refrigerate leftovers.
Note: I dont know the name of the apples I baked.
It is available in mother dairy outlet. The seller just said ki phoren ka hai aur thora khatta hai.
