Nutella braided bread

This is a delicious bread with a spread of nutella inside each layer.
This bread is for nutella lovers!

Ingredients:
All purpose flour or maida-4 cups or 400 gms,
Yeast-1 packet,
 Milk-1 cup,
Butter-2 tbsp,
Salt-1/4 tsp,
Sugar-1/4 cup( 1tsp for yeast and the remaining to be added to the warm milk)
Warm water-1/4 cup,
Egg-1.
Nutella- 4 and 1/2 tbsp ( heapful)-warm,
Egg wash and some butter for brushing the dough and bread.

Method:
To make it into a round shape we will use a medium size plate and make a mark on the rolled dough.
Sieve the flour and measure 4 cups of flour and keep aside.
Mix 1/4 tsp of salt to the flour.

Warm 1/4 cup of water in the microwave to luke warm.
Add 1 packet of yeast and 1 tsp of sugar and mix till sugar dissolves.
Keep in warm place for the yeast to activate.

Warm the milk in a bowl or measuring cup and add 2 tbsp of butter and the remaining sugar.
Once the butter has melted, add one beaten egg.
Mix and keep aside.

Take a bowl and add 2 cups of flour.
Make a well in the center.
Once the yeast is activated and foams up,pour it in the well of the flour.
Add the milk egg mixture.
Using a spatula, mix the dough in circular motion.
The dough will be very sticky.
Add 1/2 cup of flour and mix again to gather the dough in the center.

Add 1/4 cup of the flour from the remaining 1/2 cup of flour.
Knead the dough for few minutes and then add the rest of the flour.
Knead the dough for 8 to 10 minutes or till the dough does not stick to the surface or fingers.
The dough ball should be smooth from the top and a finger poked will spring back.
Grease a bowl with oil and transfer the dough ball to it.
Toss the dough ball to coat oil evenly from all sides.
Cover with a damp cloth and leave it in the microwave or warm place for an hour or for the dough to double in size.
Line butter paper on a 9x13 baking tray.
Grease the center with oil.
Once the dough has risen to double, make a few punches to let out the air.
Transfer the dough on to your counter.
Spread the dough and then roll it to form a log.
Pinch the ends and sides.

Divide the log into 4 equal size.

Make rounds balls and cover with a cloth.
Sprinkle some flour on the counter and roll the ball into a ten inch circle or depending upon the size of your plate.
It should be bigger then the plate and keeping in mind the size of the tray as some space has to be left for the bread to rise and bake.

Using a rolling pin, roll the dough and then place the inverted plate on top of it and lightly press it to leave a mark on the dough.

Lift the dough and place it on the tray lined with butter paper.
Make a mark again with the plate.
Warm nutella  for 10 seconds for the spread to soften as it will be easy to spread.
Spoon 1 and 1/2 tbsp of nutella in the center.

Using the same spoon spread the nutella all around leaving just the edges.
Roll the second dough ball and repeat the same process.

Like wise the same process with the third dough ball.
The fourth dough ball has just to be rolled and covered from the top.

Press the plate lightly again to form a mark on the dough and then run a knife around the edges.

Lift the plate and using a knife or pizza cutter cut off the extra dough around the circle.
Place a small glass in the center and lightly press it to make a mark.

Remove the glass and using a knife or cutter, make a horizontal and vertical cut, leaving the center glass mark.

The dough is divided into 4 parts.
Make cuts again into each part, making the dough into 8 parts.

Cut again each part leaving the center intact.
The dough is divided into 16 equal parts.

Hold one cut dough from the end and twist twice to the left  and keep it aside.
Hold the next cut dough to it and twist twice to the right and keep aside.

You just need to remember that the cut strip has to be twisted in opposite directions.

Like wise do the twists of all the sixteen strips.

Take both the opposite strips and twist again and join the ends together, pinching the ends.

Fold or tuck the pinched side beneath.

Likewise do for all the strips.First twist, join, pinch and then fold them inside.
Brush with butter and cover for 15 minutes for the bread to rest and rise.

Pre heat oven to 180 C for 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes brush the unbaked braided bread with egg wash or milk.

Bake the bread for 20 minutes or lightly brown on top.
Take out from oven and brush the bread with melted butter.

Slide the bread  from the tray to a wire rack holding the butter paper and leave it to cool on wire rack.
If you like soft bread, then cover with a towel for 5 minutes.
Remove the butter paper, once the bread is warm.

This is a  pull out bread.
You can easily separate the bread from the center by just pulling from the end.
