Palmiers

Puff pastry dough is available in modern bazar stores or you can make it at home too .
I have made this recipe with the modern baazar store dough but in my next blog i  have posted the recipe for the dough which i made  at home and made palmiers (elephant ears ) .
Ingredients :
Puff pastry  dough - 1 sheet ( thawed ),
Egg -1 ,
Water -1 tbsp ,
Granulated sugar -3 tbsp .
Method :
Take out the dough from the freezer and leave for 40 minutes in  room temperature .
Grease the baking tray .
Stir the egg and water in a small bowl .
Sprinkle the work surface with flour .
Unfold the pastry sheet on the floured surface .
Roll the pastry sheet into 16 X 10 inch rectangle .
Dust flour if the dough is sticky ,but not too much .
Brush the pastry with the egg mixture and then sprinkle 2 tbsp sugar .
Starting at the short side fold each side towards centre leaving 1/4 inch space in the centre .
Brush the pastry sheet with the egg mixture and sprinkle 1 tbsp of sugar.
Fold one side over one side . Make one more fold from the short side ,making a four layer  rectangle .

Cut the rectangle into 6 slices ( 3/4 inch ).
Place the pastries cut side down 2 inches apart on the prepared baking tray .
brush the  pastries with the egg mixture .
Pre heat the oven to 200 C or 400 F .
Bake the pastries for 12 minutes .
Cool them on wire for 10 minutes .
