Black gram or kala chana - 1 and 1/2 cup ,( soaked over night ),
Cumin seeds -1 tsp,
Onion -1 small ( finely chopped ),
Ginger garlic paste -1 tsp ,
Tomato -1 ( chopped ),
Green chilli -2 (chopped ),
Cumin pwd -1tsp ,
Coriander pwd -1 tsp ,
Garam masala pwd -1/2 tsp ,
Oil -3 tsp ,
Salt to taste ,
Coriander leaves for garnishing .
Method :
Boil the soaked kala chana in cooker with 3 cups of water and salt .
One whisle in high heat and 15 minutes in low heat .
Heat a pan or kadhai and add 3 tsp of oil. As oil heats up add cumin seeds .
As cumins heat up add the chopped onions .Fry for few seconds ,then add ginger garlic paste .
Fry till onions turn brown ,then add the chopped tomatoes and green chillies . Fry till the tomatoes are soft .
Add the boiled chanas with stock ,cumin pwd and coriander pwd .Stir and cover. Let it simmer on low heat for 10 to 15 minutes .
Remove the lid and sprinkle garam masala and coriander leaves .
After 2 minutes close the gas .
Ideal for late breakfast .Eaten with hot puris or paratha .
